Thanks for the Chance to Change Things

Reprinted from Lynne McTaggart's Blog

For all the many things we have to be thankful for this over this weekend of Thanksgiving, our greatest gift, in my view, is just being alive to witness and participate in this particular slice of history.

Make no mistake: we are one of the most important generations that has ever lived. Every choice we make in dealing with all the calamities in our midst today – the continued financial issues, climate and environmental change, political corruption, energy, food and water crises, continued war - will affect not only our children and our children’s children – but all children in the world for all time.

We are the first generation that can consciously choose whether or not humanity is even going to survive.

I am grateful for the chance to have a ringside seat to these historic events, but I’m even more grateful that we, at this point in history, are being given an opportunity to change an outmoded paradigm underpinning virtually every way we live.

For the key to tackling the many crises now facing our country lies no less in reframing the core belief that underpins every aspect of our society: I win, you lose. This mistaken belief – that winning equals winning over someone else – is the greatest cancer of our time, accounting for every single one of the crises we face in the West.

Every last structure around us, from our political system and industry to the media and our health care system is collapsing, largely because of this core belief. Fixing the problems that now beset us requires nothing less than ripping up that rulebook and starting afresh, based on something other every man and woman for himself.

But for that to succeed, each of us has to become a participant. It is time to move past individual spiritual seeking and gratification and to embrace spiritual activism.

Give thanksgiving to the world for your life this weekend by figuring out exactly what you can do to make a change, and pledge your contribution right here on this page.
