What Will 2025 Hold?

As we stand on the threshold of 2025, I find myself deeply moved by the many conversations I’ve had with thought leaders and change-makers around the globe. A recurring theme has emerged: a quiet yet profound shift is on the horizon. Not just political shifts or economic recalibrations, but a fundamental transformation in how we view ourselves, one another, and the world.

For centuries, our societies have been built on a foundation of competition. Darwin’s principle of natural selection became not only a scientific understanding but a cultural norm, shaping industries, economies, and even relationships. But what if that paradigm no longer serves us? What if the path forward isn’t a race but a collaboration?

Last night, during a call with a group I’m part of called the unitive narrative this very question came alive. The Unitive Narrative is a collaborative effort—imagined and co-written by over 60 voices—to re-envision a future built on cooperation rather than competition.

As I listened, I was reminded of the first time I encountered this idea in 2019, watching Gregg Braden on Gaia. Gregg shared a revolutionary insight: nature, at its core, thrives on cooperation.

Consider this: a lion doesn’t devastate an entire herd of antelope; it takes only what it needs to nourish its pride. This balance isn’t random—it’s a natural design, ensuring the survival of all.

This theme of cooperative evolution has surfaced repeatedly in my journey. In Neil Theise’s book, Notes on Complexity, he explores how even the smallest creatures—ants—offer profound lessons. Most ants follow established trails to food, but a few venture off the beaten path to discover new sources. These outlier ants ensure their colony’s survival by finding fresh opportunities.

I can’t help but feel that we, too, are at a moment where venturing off the old trails is essential. What new paths might we blaze to ensure a brighter future for all?

Whether these ideas resonate with you or challenge your current worldview, I invite you to join me in stepping into 2025 with curiosity and openness. What would it look like to build economies rooted in mutual benefit? Healthcare systems that truly serve everyone? Communities where collaboration is valued above competition?

We may not yet fully imagine the world we’re stepping into, but the first step is clear: let’s be open to possibilities. Together, as we embrace new ideas and forge new trails, we can create a future that serves the highest good of all.

Here’s to a transformative and collaborative 2025, and wishing you a happy holiday season!
