William Keepin
Main profile
William Keepin is a physicist, environmental scientist, gender equality activist, teacher, writer, and practitioner of interspiritual mysticism.
His early scientific career focused for 20 years on sustainable energy for abating climate change. He became a whistleblower in an international scientific research program that was biased to promote nuclear power, and published a detailed exposé in Nature (recounted in The Cultural Creatives, Ray and Anderson, 2000). His subsequent research demonstrated that energy efficiency technologies were seven times more cost-effective than nuclear power for displacing fossil fuels, and he presented testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives and several other governments. He co-authored the founding documents for the Energy Foundation, created to facilitate the transition to a carbon-free, nuclear-free future. Will’s other scientific research focused on quantum mechanics of molecules, fractal geometry, parapsychology, and David Bohm’s “ontological interpretation” of quantum physics.
Will co-founded (with Cynthia Brix) the Gender Equity & Reconciliation International (GERI) project, which has conducted trainings for gender equity and reconciliation in 12 countries, and was formally endorsed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 2013. He co-founded the Dawn of Interspirituality project, which has organized six international conferences to bridge the major world religions. Will has practiced Eastern and Western contemplative spiritual disciplines for decades, and his “Principles of Spiritual Activism” have been widely circulated. He has been a certified facilitator for 30 years of holotropic breathwork, developed by psychiatrist Stanislav Grof.
Will holds a Ph.D. and honorary doctorate, and has published four books and 40+ peer-reviewed articles on new-paradigm science, spirituality, archetypal cosmology, and a recent book chapter on the divine feminine in Wisdom Goddess Traditions (2021). His books include Divine Duality: The Power of Reconciliation between Women and Men, Women Healing Women, Song of the Earth, and Belonging to God: Science, Spirituality, and a Universal Path of Divine Love.
